Armed goons loot passengers

SHILLONG: One Abdul Rasid Bepari of Kakripara Natungaon under Mankachar PS, Assam has lodged a complaint that on August 1 around 5:30 am, while he along with other passengers were proceeding towards Barengapara Bazar, West Garo Hills district on an auto-rickshaw to purchase cashew nuts, four persons armed with pistol, assaulted and looted Rs 2,30,000 from the complainant and Rs 1 lakh from the passengers.
However, when contacted, police said the incident has been exaggerated and it was a cooked-up story.
Police also said that the case basically involves a financial dispute between two groups who have same interests. They said the injuries suffered are simple.
