Shella by-poll within this year

SHILLONG: The by-poll to Shella Assembly constituency will be held within this year.
An official source said on Tuesday that the Election department has already sent the information to the Election Commission about the vacant seat due to the death of former Assembly Speaker Donkupar Roy on July 28.
The source added that since October and December will be the months of religious festivals, the Election Commission may choose any other date.
The by-election should be held within six months.
