B Chandra Sekhar appointed administration head of EAC
SHILLONG: Air Vice Marshal B Chandra Sekhar on Thursday took over as the new senior officer-in-charge of Administration (SOA) of the Eastern Air Command (EAC). He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned as a Helicopter Pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF) on 21 December 1984. In a career spanning over 34 years, the Air Officer has flown most variants of helicopters in the IAF inventory and has over 5400 hours of flying to his credit. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and has held instructional appointments at Air Force Academy, Helicopter Training School, College of Air Warfare and College of Defence Management. He is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and National Defence College.
Mendipathar College excels in BA examinations
SHILLONG: The students of Mendipathar College have emerged with top grades in their 6th semester BA examination, 2019 conducted by the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, the results of which were declared recently. Ever since the introduction of the semester system by NEHU, Mendipathar College has excelled in the BA final examinations with 14 first class students this year. The achievers comprise six students majoring in Garo language and 8 students majoring in Political Science. One student from the Garo Department secured 70 per cent while three students from the Political Science Department secured more than 70 per cent. AG Momin, principal, along with the teaching staff and students congratulated the toppers and wished them all the best in life.
Krishana Das Paul Choudhury memorial art competition
SHILLONG: Zenith Jubelieth Club, Laban will organise the All Shillong Krishana Das Paul Choudhury memorial art competition 2019 at Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School in the city on August 11. Drawing sheets will be provided at the venue and participants are to carry their own drawing materials. For spot entry, participants should report to the venue at 10am sharp.
