SHILLONG: Harassment by a Deputy Superintendent of Police was alleged by SF-10 personnel posted in Williamnagar.
Complaints of alleged harassment from the senior is being reported by SF 10 personnel on anonymity.
The police personnel who do not wish to be identified said that for any inspections or similar exercise for the operation team, the orders usually come from the Headquarters to the commandant who then gives further instruction.
But the newly posted DSP has time and again conducted a series of inspections and issued orders as he pleases.
The cops further alleged that the DSP treated them as new recruits and this led to disappointment and anger among the team which they claimed amounts to harassment.
Informing that the DSP has now been transferred to Baghmara, they said that although he has been transferred, the precedent he set is bad for the morale of the personnel.
To a query whether they tried to take up the issue with the higher authorities, they said that they have not taken it up but they found out that the orders that were issued to them were not from the headquarters.
They also claimed that following the continuous harassment many were on the verge of quitting their jobs.
The first batch (2016) of the SF-10 virtually wiped out the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in their first two years of deployment in the militancy-affected districts of Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills. Their success was highly rated in counter-insurgency operations.
