Stones pelted at Byrnihat sub-station

Nongpoh: Engineers of the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd of Byrnihat Substation filed an FIR against unknown miscreants involved in pelting stones at the 33/11 KV 2X 5MVA sub-station located in Byrnihat on Wednesday.
As per the FIR, it was stated that unknown miscreants continuously pelted stones at the sub-station between 12 and 12:30 am on Wednesday morning thereby damaging the window panes of the Control Room which could have resulted in serious injury to the staff who are on duty. It could have also damage critical components house in the control room.
It was stated, that the incident could have ultimately resulted in disruption of power supply in the entire Byrnihat area for a long time.The FIR urged the police to conduct an enquiry and initiate necessary action at the earliest to nab the culprits so as to ensure the safety of the staff and the sub-station.
