HNLC hoists its flag 2 days prior to I-day

JOWAI: The banned outfit HNLC celebrated its 32nd anniversary by hoisting its flag in two schools in Jaintia Hills. One of its flag was seen flying at Khliehriat Higher Secondary School playground and the other at Jrisalein playground, Chutwakhu Jowai in West Jaintia Hills. The district administration of East and West Jaintia Hills has arranged both the playgrounds for the 73rd Independence Day celebrations.
In a release, the General Secretary-cum-publicity Secretary, Sainkupar Nongtraw informed that as part of the anniversary, the HNLC hoisted its two flags in Jaintia Hills.
Sources informed the outfit, which was formed in 1987 with an objective to protect the Hynniewtrep people from all kinds of internal and external forces, hoisted the flags on Tuesday which were only seen the next morning by locals.
Nongtraw also informed that the HNLC will celebrate the birth anniversary of U Wickliff Syiem who died in 1988 in Bangladesh.
