SHILLONG: John Kharshiing of the Federation of Khasi States said the assurance to recognise the Hima Khasi States in the Constitution has been pending for the last 72 years even as India celebrates its 73rd Independence Day on Thursday.
He said the 25 Hima Khasi States along with the Federation of Khasi States became a part of India in 1948 and maintained that the Union government should fulfil its assurance made to the Hima Khasi states.
