Rice released
The DC (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed that rice under NFSA and Non-NFSA and tide-over wheat for the month of August has been released through their respective Fair Price Shops w.e.f Tuesday. AAY at the scale of Rs. 35 kg per card at the rate of Rs. 3 per kg, PHH at the scale of 5 kg per unit at the rate of Rs. 3 per kg, TO at the scale of 7 kg per household at the rate of Rs. 11.70 to Rs. 12 per kg and wholemeal atta at the scale of 5 kg and 3 kg for urban and rural areas respectively at the rate of Rs. 8 per kg.

Unclaimed body
The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Civil Hospital, Shillong has informed that a male patient named Vicky Sohtun (27) C/o Sashi Kaur (Employer), Them Metor, Anjali Pump, Shillong, was admitted in the Male Medical Ward-II, Bed No. 5, Civil Hospital at 02:22 pm on July 26. The patient expired on August 16 at 05:15 am. All concerned relatives, etc, are requested to collect the  body from the morgue of the hospital within a period of 3 days failing which the body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.

General meeting
The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) will hold its general meeting-cum-felicitation function at U Soso Tham Auditorium, State Library Shillong at 11 am on August 22. E D Nongsiang and R S Marbaniang ex-president and vice president of the association respectively will be felicitated at the programme. R G Lyndoh, ex-Education Minister, will attend the felicitation function as special guest.

Conference
Meghalaya Bank Employees Association will be holding their 10th conference at Bangiya Sahitya Parishad Hall, Jail road (near Government Girls’ High School) at 2:30 pm on August 24. CH Venkatachalam, general secretary of AIBEA, will inaugurate the conference.

Lions Club
The Lions Club of Shillong in association with Meehen Infratech, RKM Sohra, SDO Sohra and Meghalaya Police Sohra organised a tree plantation programme at Sohra on August 17. The programme was inaugurated by Governor Tathagata Roy.
