MV Act violators face action

SHILLONG: The State Commissioner of Transport has directed all vehicle owners to strictly adhere to Section 52 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 which deals with alteration of vehicles, prohibiting air horns, LED lights, crash guards, bull bars, etc. as well as non-fitment of high security registration plates (HSRP).
Vehicle owners/drivers violating the provision will have the unauthorised fitments confiscated or fined.
Vehicle documents such as Certificate of Registration, insurance papers, pollution under control certificate (for private vehicles) and transport permit, update of road tax and Meghalaya Passengers and Goods Taxation (MPGT) (for commercial vehicles) are required to be kept in the vehicles all the time failing which penalty will be imposed.
