Muhkla Behdeinkhlam festival concludes

JOWAI: Behdeinkhlam of the Sein Raij Muhkla in West Jaintia concluded on Friday.
Chief Minster Conrad Sangma who was the chief guest at the event said that he wants the festival of Behdeinkhlam grow bigger with increasing number of participants.
He also said the government is with the people of the state to promote such festival. He also hoped that the festival will attract more tourists from other parts of the country and from abroad.
Mukhla Behdeinkhlam is the last Behdeinkhlam festival of the year in the entire Jaintia Hills celebrated annually by religious organisation known as Sein Raij. Earlier, the elders of the Sein Raij Mukhla submitted a memorandum to the chief minister seeking grants for the construction of VIP gallery, public gallery, parking area and footpath. Construction of the fencing of the sacred grove around the Biar which is the venue for the annual celebration was also sought.
The proposed construction cost is Rs. 3 crore.
