SHILLONG: A foundation stone for Rehabilitation Centre (RC) and Training Centre (TC) was laid at Sohryngkham, Mawlyndep for stepping in to help people start a new life after struggling from drugs and alcohol.
Tepilla Bayit Foundation (TBF) will run the centres and it was inaugurated by MDC Nongthymmai, Latipalng Kharkongor and Pastor JF Jyrwa on Saturday.
Kharkongor said that parents are in a fix as their wards are turning towards substance abuse and taking them to rehabilitation centres have turned out to be a costly affair.
He lauded the efforts of the TBF as they seek to depend on donations which will be of great help to the family members.
Meanwhile, Jyrwa in his speech said that youth who fall prey to drugs are in need of counseling.
He also said that the church as well as the residents should cooperate to ensure that youth are free from drugs.
