SHILLONG: Shaili Dhagat, a former resident of Shillong, won the Mrs International World Ambassador, 2019-20 in beauty pageant held at Encore Melaka, Malaysia.
She began her pageant journey last year in Guwahati where she won the Mrs India International Global title, making her eligible for the Malaysia meet.
Around 30 countries including USA, China, Japan, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Hong Kong, Sweden, Hungary among others took part in the recent competition.
The pageant was organised by BRAVE Foundation, which offers a platform for married women and single mothers.
“I am fortunate to make my country proud by winning the crown of Mrs International World Ambassador 2019-20,” she said in a letter to the Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel while thanking the ministry for presenting her with the national flag to represent the country in the pageant.
Shaili was in Shillong until a couple of years ago when her husband, a pilot, was posted in the Eastern Air Command headquarters of the Indian Air Force here.
