Rally supports PM’s vision
SHILLONG: A rally in support of the Prime Minister’s vision on various ideologies and welfare schemes was organised by the BJP Mahila Sangh (Meghalaya Pradesh) on Sunday, as part of a BJP recruitment drive. The rally, which was attended in large numbers, in addition to enrolling new members, aimed at increasing awareness amongst the villagers about the various schemes conceived and implemented by the Centre for improving the lives of rural inhabitants. Speaking on the occasion, Marbatsar Kharbyngar, Sordar of Smit said the populace is in support of the PM’s vision in making the country strong, with high living standards and inclusive growth of all sections of society. Cosmos Mynsong, Secretary Umphrup said that social respect for all religions including safeguarding of places of worship of historical significance, a uniform civil code and mutual respect will result in developing a confident society. The rally was organised by Elizabeth Nongbri, an executive of the Mahila Sangh and a pioneer member of the NE Cell of Forum of Awareness of National Security (FANS).
College observes foundation day
SHILLONG: Buddha Bhanu Saraswati (BBS) College observed its 26th foundation day at Babu Mani Singh Gurung Auditorium on August 23, a release issued here informed.
During the programme, the college felicitated its academic achievers from HSSLC and BA, BCom besides issuing commendation certificates to the students of the college who graduated this year. D.B Gurung, president, governing body of the college presided as the chief guest of the programme and B.B Chettri, vice president of the governing body of the college as the guest of honour.
DC launches Rota Virus Vaccine
TURA: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman of the District Health Society (DHS), Ram Singh on Monday launched the Rota Virus Vaccine (RVV) at District Maternal and Child Hospital (DMCH) in Tura. Speaking on the occasion, Ram Singh said that West Garo Hills district is the first district in Garo Hills to launch the RVV and urged the parents to ensure that their children are immunised with all vaccines available in the district hospitals provided free of cost by the government to ensure healthy life for their children in future. Informing about the constant efforts of the government to improve the quality of immunisation and to ensure that all children are protected, DMCHO, Tura, I M Sangma said that the RRV will now be added to the routine immunisation programme in the district which will provide protection against severe diarrhoea caused by rotavirus. District Medical and Health Officer, M R Sangma and other senior health officials were also present at the launch of the vaccine.
