NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi Youth Development & Social Organisation (RBYDSO) on Friday expressed concern over the rise of unemployment rate in the district despite most of the youths being eligible and qualified for government jobs. The pressure group has sought the intervention of the District Head especially the representative of the District Selection Committee regarding this matter.
Speaking to mediapersons, RBYDSO president Arnold Syngkli and secretary Kerbok Mallai informed that the eligible youths from the district are deprived from their rights even after clearing interviews while people from other districts are getting the jobs in Ri Bhoi.
“Most of the unemployed youths get into the habits of drinking and other anti social elements due to stress which is an alarming issue, therefore to curb such menace the government must take action in solving unemployment issues in the district,” the organisation said.
The RBYDSO also said that they will take up the matter with the Chairman of the District Selection Committee.
