NONGSTOIN: Students of Naimanzil, a free education project by the Ministry of Minorities Affairs, who appeared in the NIOS exam, have expressed concern over the irresponsibility of the AI centre in KJP Synod Higher Secondary School, Nongstoin.
Ambrose Nongbri, a student who appeared in the Secondary exam of the NIOS, alleged that the AI centre in KJP Synod Sepngi, HSS has not released the Tutor Mark Assignment (TMA) to the NIOS Regional Centre in Guwahati.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Ambrose said that the assignment has been sent to the AI centre in April before the exam, however, it has been 5 months and the centre has not taken required action, he said adding that query has been made into the matter by meeting the principal for numerous times but a clear answer to satisfy the students has not been received.
Ambrose added that the second exam will begin on October but till date the marks of the assignment have been withheld by the AI centre.
The students after the irresponsibility of the AI centre called upon the KSU West Khasi Hills Unit to intervene over the matter.
The KSU, led by its president, John Fisher Nongsiang along with the teachers and students of Naimanzil met the teacher concerned on Tuesday, to find some clarification.
Asked about the delay, N.C. Kharlyngdoh, a concerned teacher, said that the students were absolutely irregular for classes in the AI centre. However, the students expressed shock over his statement saying that they attended classes regularly.
Kharlyngdoh said that the NIOS, regional office has no knowledge about Naimanzil.
It was also informed that it was too late for the submission of the assignments and if the student wanted to upload it themselves, they would have to pay Rs 1500 for each subject.
John Fisher told pressmen that the union will follow up on the matter with the Regional Office in Guwahati where an enquiry will be made.
