IFA suspends EB players

Kolkata: Indian Football Association (IFA) on Wednesday suspended East Bengal’s captain Lalrindika Ralte and Mehtab Singh for a match and fine Rs 1 lakh each paying within 72 hours for their misconduct during 0-1 loss to Peerless SC at their home ground on Monday. “They have to pay the amount within 72 hours otherwise suspension will continue for one year,” the Bengal supreme football governing body said in a statement following a report submitted by the referees after violence erupted at end of play on September 9 in the Calcutta Football League. East Bengal manger Debraj Chowdhury and goalkeeping coach Abhra Mondal have been suspended for a year for the same offence, the release added. In the league match today Bhawanipur beat Mohammedan Sporting 3-0. (UNI)
