SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) Frontier HQ Shillong, on Wednesday celebrated ‘BSF Wives Welfare Association Day’ (BWWA) with great pomp and show. The programme was attended by 21 BSF widows (Kalyani members) and three disabled children with nearly 500 BWWA members along with their families.
BWWA is a non-profitable organisation which trains and assists wives of BSF personnel as well as their children and their widows in areas of skill generation, education, introducing new opportunities, career counselling, health, lifestyle, housing and sharing/resolving problems and prepare them to face challenges of life with ease. The organisation also inculcates the sense of belongingness among wards of BSF.
The programme covered wide canvas of activities like cooking competition, anchoring competition, fashion show, composition of Puja thali competition, dance and fancy dress show followed by a cultural programme.
A ‘Barhakhana’ for all the BWWA family members of BSF Frontier Meghalaya was also organised.
