State olympic association elects members

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA), in its annual general body meeting at the Pinewood Convention Hall, on Friday, re-elected unanimously John F Kharshiing, and Chiranjib Choudhury as Working President and General Secretary respectively along with five vice presidents, treasurer, two joint secretaries and eight executive members as members of the Executive Council for the period 2019-2023, in the presence of Tappan Das, Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Observer and Advocate N Syngkon, Returning Officer.
Banteidor Lyngdoh, Sports Minister, and ex-officio President of MSOA, assured that the state government is making all out efforts to expedite infrastructure development and team preparation process for the upcoming National Games 2022. The proposal to have two advisers without voting rights was also accepted. The meeting proposed the names of BK Dey Sawian, and RG Lyngdoh as advisers.
He informed that a CSR Outreach Summit for National Games proposed by MSOA has also been approved by the state government which is scheduled to be held during the first week of November, besides the approval of proposal by MSOA for Meghalaya Games 2019 which will be held during the second week of December. Final dates will be announced after consultation with the chief minister.
John F Kharshiing, the newly-elected Working President congratulated the office bearers and other members and called on all associations to jointly work together to produce national players and olympians from Meghalaya with the successful hosting of the National Games 2022.
