MAWKYRWAT: South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo on Friday met the officials of MEPDCL and leaders of the Mawkyrwat Electricity Consumer Forum (MECF) and decided that all pending electricity bills will be issued immediately.
After the MeECL handed over the electric services to Odisha based firm Feedback Electricity Distribution Company Limited (FEDCO) for Mawkyrwat, things did not go well and the people were against it.
The offices of FEDCO as well as MeECL were locked by the Mawkyrwat Electricity Consumer Forum.
) Meanwhile, the MeECL and FEDCO stopped issuing electricity bills for months, and this has affected the general public.
In July, a meeting was held in the office chamber of the DC in Mawkyrwat in which officials from MeEPDCL, Mawkyrwat Sub-Division, leaders of MECF, Secretary of Dorbar Hima Maharam Syiemship, headmen and secretaries of several villages of Mawkyrwat sub-division and several NGOs attended and a fact finding committee was constituted to look into various issues raised by the  MECF.
The DC also said that for the benefit of the people, consultative meeting will again be held with the parties involved.
