Citizens run to spread awareness on drug abuse

SHILLONG: The Shillong Adventist Youth (SAY) has conducted a marathon against drug abuse in the city on Sunday.
In a statement, the Adventist Youth said the event was organised for a cause as many youths, instead of saying “no to drugs” sadly say “yes to drugs”
The intention was to create awareness and reminder to the society on the dangers of drug addiction.
Participants from different parts of Shillong turned up to make the event a success.
The marathon started from Brookside Adventist Higher Secondary School, Fire Brigade covering Laitumkhrah Police point, Don Bosco point, Stephen Hall, MBOSE & AIR, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong Commerce College, St. Mary’s School, Upland Road, Directorate of Health Services and back to Laitumkhrah Police Point and then finishing at Brookside Adventist Higher Secondary School.
Another organisation, the ultimate legend biker association, Umsning circle will organise a marathon as part of awareness programme against abuse of alcohol, drug, tobacco.
The association has urged all schools to take part in the event.
