JOWAI: The KSU Nartiang circle along with some members of the District Unit conducted a surprise raid at Nartiang village, in which illegal immigrant labourers were detected and asked to go back home until they could produced valid documents including, work permits and trading license.
A team of KSU activists led by Hamarbathmu Muskut, president of KSU Nartiang circle said that Nartiang village is not a semi town and it is surprising how the people came to set up their businesses here.
“We want our local people to flourish and not immigrants. We are not against them but we are against their system. They just come without any valid documents and set up businesses here, how can it be allowed”, Muskut said.
The KSU has shut down various shops such as barber shops, furniture shops, restaurants and more.
“These trade types are not unknown to our locals. The JHADC Act on trading by non tribals has clearly stated that trade which is not familiar with the locals can be considered for trading license”. The outsiders detected by the KSU did not possess documents to prove their legality for working in the state.
“We urge the government and the district council to properly implement its various sections of laws for the welfare of the indigenous people”, Muskut said.
