NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Mawshynrut Circle and KSU Umsohpieng Unit on Wednesday blamed the infiltration check point in Athiabari for the failure to curb the entry of non-tribals coming to West Khasi Hills.
The union led by general secretary of KSU, Mawshynrut Circle, Ulysis Ryntong carried out inspection at Umsohpieng area where more than 10 non-tribals were apprehended without valid documents and sent back to their hometown.
They also shut down two medical stores in Umsohpieng for not providing any documents to prove that they have a well qualified physician.
The KSU members also asked for their documents but no one could provide the work permit, labour license and NRC.
The union also warned all local contractors not to bring any outsiders without obtaining documents from district council and labour department.
Villagers are not to give any shelter to any outsiders without documents, they added.
