Rally against drug abuse

SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union Smit unit in collaboration with the Smit Taxi owners/Driver Association and the Meghalaya Aids Control Society (MACS) organised a rally against drug use with an aim to spread awareness on drug addiction.
The rally began at Lumkynsai Presbyterian Lower Primary School, Smit and concluded at Sawlad. Students, parents, guardians, members of the KSU, Smit and Eastern Area units took part at the rally.
In his address to the participants, SP of Shillong Stephan Rynjah urged parents to be cautious when it comes to their children and to prevent them from taking drugs.
He also threw light on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
KSU president, Lambokstar Marngar said that students should set an example to the next generation and should aim to be successful and not fall prey to drugs..
