Programme to promote literary activities among GH students
TURA: The Garo Department of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in collaboration with the A’chik Literature Society (ALS) recently organised a Sahitya Academy-sponsored 3rd Gramalok at the Ampati Degree College in South West Garo Hills. Inaugurating the programme, ALS President Caroline R Marak said that the purpose of the event was to sow seeds of writing in the A’”chik language at the village level; to produce, inspire and promote creative writing as well as essays, articles and products of research. Fameline K Marak, HoD Garo, who initiated the event, explained the activities of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, to the participants consisting largely of the students of Ampati Degree College and the Spring Field Higher Secondary School, Ampati, and Department of Garo, NEHU Tura Campus, Tura. During the programme, trainees, in traditional musical instruments at NEHU (Tura Campus), displayed their skill in playing different rhythms on the drum and the ‘Chigring’. Certificates were also presented during the programme to the hosts as a mark of appreciation to the participants by the HoD Garo Department and the ALS President.

College Graduation Day
NONGSTOIN: The Lyngngam Presbyterian College in Mawsthengkut under Mawshynrut Civil Sub Division on Friday organised its first College Graduation Day where 23 students of the first bath attended the programme.
After encouraging the students in the programme, the Dean of Social Science, NEHU, Cecile Mawlong, who was also the chief guest, lauded the efforts of the governing body and the Presbyterian Church for setting up the higher institution in an area that needed the most. She also lauded the efforts of the management and the role of each and every stakeholder to shape the college into a premiere institution, and hoped that the college will produce more bright students in times to come.

Stakeholder Coordination meet
SHILLONG: The North East India Committee on Relief & Development (NEICORD) organised a Stakeholder Coordination meeting at Kynrud, West Khasi Hills District on Thursday. The programme was attended by all the stakeholders including the Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills District T Lyngwa, who was also the chief guest, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Mairang Block V Swer, the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of NABARD S Rohila, the District Development Manager (DDM) of NABARD U Bezbaruah, the Lead District Manager West Khasi Hills Th Tunglut, the Executive Director of NEICORD Guithuilung Daimei, the village headman and the beneficiaries of ITDF Project. Lyngwa, during his speech, encouraged the farmers and said, “Agriculture is the community business where all family members can be a part of it and through this, it will increase the income of the family.” Other stakeholders including BDO of West Khasi Hills, DGM of NABARD, DDM of NABARD, Executive Director of NEICORD and the village headman of Kynrud and Nongsohma also spoke during the programme.
