Mobile squads to inspect goods in movement

SHILLONG: The office of the Commissioner of Taxes has informed that mobile squads will check transported goods worth over Rs 50,000 of all tax payers with immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Friday, the official said the order is applicable to all tax payers causing movement of goods in inter-state or intra-state trade and commerce of consignment value exceeding Rs 50,000 that in accordance with provision of section 68 of the Meghalaya Goods and Service Tax Act, 2017 and rules thereof, such consignments may be subjected to inspection by specially designated mobile squads.
However, the exemption is the exclusion of goods covered under annexure appended to Rule 138 (14) of the Meghalaya Goods and Service Rules, 2017.
The order will come into effect from Saturday, the official added.
