17 CPI (M) supporters injured

Agartala: At least 17 CPI (M) supporters including women have allegedly been manhandled by BJP cadres on Saturday in different locations of Shantirbazar and Belonia in South Tripura while returning from a party programme at Birchandra Manu of the district. The senior CPI (M) leader and former minister Badal Choudhury alleged that despite lodging complaint with police, nobody has been arrested so far. Rather police is trying to shield the criminals with the instruction of the leaders of ruling party. However, police denied the allegation and said investigation has started. According to report, the victims viz., Bishuram Uchoi, Goutam Reang, Sukumar Namo and Subodh Majumdar were shifted to Agartala Govt Medical College with serious head injuries but rest others were released after primary medication and test at local hospitals.
