Hills Festival second edition on Oct 18, 19

SHILLONG: The second edition of the Hills Festival will he held on October 18 and 19 at Lum-Er-Pyngngad in Umbir which is 4 to 5 kms away from Lad Umsaw in Ri-Bhoi, informed the proprietor of the festival, Sahil Majaw on Monday.
Addressing a press conference here, the in-charge of public relations, Gerald Duia informed that the two-day festival will focus on promoting local musicians by giving them an opportunity to perform in front of the people.
He said that 17 artists comprising 12 bands, soloists and duet groups will perform at the festival.
Besides local talent, international artists are also set to enthrall the audience with a lineup consisting of Jai Waetford who was a participant of X-Factor Australia in 2003, DJ Mansus and Surreal.
A special act will also be performed by farmers from Smit.
Another highlight of the festival will be a hot air balloon which will take people up to a height of 35 to 40 feet above the ground.
On being asked how the artists were chosen, Majaw informed that the artists were chosen from social media and some were recommended by friends.
In line with the government’s initiative to reduce plastic waste, Duia said that no plastic bottles will be allowed inside the venue and that drinking water will be provided including eco-friendly products.
“Apart from music, there will be games and food. It will also be a safe environment for children,” he said.
He also informed that tickets will cost Rs 499 per day.
