SHILLONG: The secretary of Assam Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan Shiksha Kosh, Shillong branch, Om Prakash Agarwala, has filed a counter FIR accusing Manabir Prasad Singhania and Pawan Sharma of interfering in the organisation’s affairs to disrupt construction of the proposed college.
The FIR stated that the two persons have no right to obstruct construction of the college which is for the overall good of the public.
He stated that Singhania and Sharma, in collusion with and connivance of some vested interest, had made an abortive attempt to sell the property to some other person which was vehemently opposed by the Marwari Samaj, Shillong branch as well as Shree Marwari Panchayat as the property was purchased for the benefit of public and could not be sold to earn money for personal gain.
However, the Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong denied permission for the sale.
Agarwala has urged the police to take action against Singhania and Sharma for their interference and intimidation.
Agarwala informed that a plot of land behind St. Mary’s Convent, Laitumkhrah, was purchased for education purpose particularly for the benefit of the students, especially those belonging to Marwari community of Shillong.
The FIR stated that the property is under his care and control since he contributed to its purchase and is also one of the donors. Agarwala stated that the DC had issued the patta under the former’s signature.
Although the property was shown to have been purchased by Shiksha Kosh Trust, Guwahati, which was intended for benefitting the students of the North East, a committee in Shillong was formed known as Assam Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan Shiksha Kosh, Shillong branch, of which Agarwala was elected secretary for the purpose of looking after and managing the property and its development.
The FIR stated that Agarwala has been looking after and managing the property for the past 20 years and in the meantime, the Shiksha Kosh Trust, the de facto owner of the land, allowed him to carry on the construction of the proposed college and develop the land for public benefit.
Earlier, Pawan Sharma filed an FIR alleging that a Shillong branch of the Assam Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan Shiksha Kosh was formed without its knowledge.
