NONGSTOIN: The District Magistrate of West Khasi Hills has imposed an order under section 133 CrPc prohibiting individuals from dumping plastic waste all over Nongstoin Town.
The majistrate also stated that the careless dumping of plastic waste has polluted the area especially road sides and nearby streams.
The Nongstoin Town Committee has taken serious note of the rampant use of plastics by the business community including shops, restaurants, markets and households which has in turn become a health hazard to humans, animals and marine life. In this regard, persons found selling, hoarding and using non-degradable plastics will be prosecuted and penalised.
