M’laya beat Assam

SHILLONG: Meghalaya defeated Assam to grab their third match win of the Women’s Senior T20 Trophy in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. Assam won the toss and opted to bat first in a match that was restricted to six overs a side.
Assam were restricted to 37/5 and Meghalaya chased this down with two deliveries to spare for the loss of two wickets.
Debasmita Dutta (2/7) and Vandana Mahajan (1/12) contributed with the ball for Meghalaya, while Dutta and Saee Purandare had the joint top score with 14 runs each in the chase.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya won their U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh by 65 runs in Tezpur on Friday.
Meghalaya began on Thursday, with the bat first after Arunachal won the toss and opted to field. Meghalaya were bowled out for 138 in 64.2 overs with Ayushman Das top-scoring with 33 runs while Raghav Magotra scored 27 runs.
Arunachal were then skittled for 65 in 28.5 overs in their first innings. Bharat Gurung scalped 4/9, while Magotra took 4/11 and Nirdesh Baisoya claimed 2/29.
Meghalaya’s second innings was almost equally low-scoring — 85 in 30.2 overs, with Mrityunjay Bharali hitting 30 runs. Avinash Rai was the only other batsman to get into double figures with 22 runs.
Meghalaya thus led by 158 runs but were able to bowl out Arunachal for 93 in the latter’s second innings.
