SHILLONG: The Rotary Club of Shillong has been awarded the Rotary International Citation with Gold Distinction for the Rotary Year 2018-19, for helping Rotary to be the inspiration in the lives of people all over the world.
The club carried out various social projects during the year 2018-19, such as the plantation of 1200 Bougainvillea near Umroi flyover, motivating more than 4000 school children for the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination, clean drinking water projects in KJP Girls School and Seng Khasi School Jaiaw.
More than 1200 runners from all over the country and abroad participated in the Rotary Sohra Marathon.
The club also gave away vocational awards to promote tourism besides carrying out more than 75 projects during the year.
