Income Tax outreach programme held in Tura

 TURA: The Income Tax Office, Bongaigaon in collaboration with the West Garo Hills District Administration on Wednesday organized an outreach programme at DRDA Conference Hall in Tura in which Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramakrishna Chitturi, PD, DRDA and ADC, WGH, C N Sangma along with other officials attended.

Addressing the gathering, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range Bongaigaon, Rani Lama informed the participants that the purpose of the program is to make the people aware of the income tax deductions, e-filing amongst others in compliance with the terms and conditions of Income Tax Laws.

West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner In-charge Z J Sangma urged everyone to participate attentively during the program and familiarise themselves about the income tax deduction and payment of their respective staff and to clarify the doubts if any pertaining to income tax. He informed that the program has been organised by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Government of India in coordination with District Administration, WGH in order to sensitize the people of the region about tax deductors and other stakeholders in Income Tax related matters and in discharging other related obligations under the Income Tax laws.

During the technical session, Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, Circle Bongaigaon, Dipankar Bhattacharjee informed about the Peculiar features of North East relating to Direct Taxation while K T Rainam, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Intelligence and Criminal Investigation, Guwahati briefed the participants about the Statement of Financial Transaction, procedure of filling of form 60 and 61 among others.

Meanwhile, Inspector of Income Tax, TDS, Guwahati Moses Haokip explained in detail about the Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) and Tax Collection at Source (TCS), Role of DDO, Deductors, etc., while Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax, Benami Properties, Guwahati spoke about the Benami Transaction Act, historical background, prohibition of Benami property, functioning of Benami prohibition units, appellate proceedings, offences and prosecution.

Earlier during the program the dignitaries were felicitated with Gamocha and which was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
