Nongstoin felicitates Best Swachhagrahi awardee

NONGSTOIN: The Office of the Executive Engineer of PHED, Swachh Bharat Mission, West Khasi Hills along with the District Administration felicitated Lamlynti Lyngkhoi of Umjakoit, the lone person from Meghalaya to receive the Best Swachhagrahi from Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ahmedabad, Gujarat on October 2.
During the award function, which was held at St. Joseph School, Nongkasen, the office of the District Medical & Health Officer launched the second phase of National Deworming Day.
Lamlynti Lyngkhoi, a missionary, went from house to house and village to village spreading the message of cleaner and greener environment and to bring open defecation to an end.
T. Lyngwa, Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills, who was the chief guest on the occasion, expressed joy over Lyngkhoi’s recognition from the Centre.
Lyngwa said that Lamlynti Lynkhoi has set a bright example for the future generation adding that she should continue with her good work for West Khasi Hills and the state as a whole. Further, Lamlynti Lyngkhoi also received Rs 10,000 in cheque from Lyngwa. Others who were also present included FM Kharsyntiew, BDO, Mawthadraishan C&RD Block, SJ Booth, EE PHE, M. Bareh DM&HO, Nongstoin, D. Shabong, EE PHE, Investigation and Planning, Shillong among others.
