Incident Response System training

SHILLONG: A one-day training programme on Incident Response System (IRS) for District Incident Response Team of East Khasi Hills was held here on Tuesday. The training was organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills, which was inaugurated by M. B. Tongper, ADC and Executive Officer, DDMA, Shillong in the presence of HML Kynta, EAC, East Khasi Hills, P. Lyngba, DDMO, S. Bordoloi, DM, Consultant and other district heads.
In his address, Tongper informed that as per the guidelines of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), it is required that each state and district should form its own Incident Response Team in order to effectively manage and respond to any disaster.
The training is conducted for District IRT members with an aim to equip the officials on the function of the IRS, he added. Earlier, Tongper released the Annual Report 2018-19 and City Disaster Management Plan for Shillong Municipal Areas.
It may be mentioned that the Annual Report 2018-19 is a compiled documents of all the activities taken up by the DDMA, East Khasi Hills, during the financial year 2018-19. The Shillong City Disaster Management Plan (SCDMP) was prepared by North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) in consultation with the DDMA. The SCDMP was drafted for the Shillong Municipal Area covering an area of 11 km.
