SHILLONG: The state youth wing of the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has opposed the move of the Community and Rural Development Department to hold only personal interviews for recruitment.
In a memorandum to the director, president of state youth wing KHNAM, Thomas Passah pointed out that the department, in an advertisement, has invited candidates to apply for the six vacant posts by November 28. The youth body questioned the department’s decision to have only personal interviews for selection saying it cannot be the only criterion to ascertain whether a person is fit for the job.
“We demand that the advertisement and the selection procedure be changed to only ‘written test’, failing which it will become clear that back-door entry and nepotism is being attempted by the department and the government”, Passah said.
He urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to intervene in the matter and also suggested change of selection process for appointment to Group C and D posts wherein personal interviews be done away with to eliminate corruption.
Passah stated that the central government has implemented the same since 2016 and for the betterment the youth of the state similar steps need to be followed.
