NPP organises event to felicitate meritorious students at Mawshynrut

NONGSTOIN: The National Peoples’ Party (NPP) Mawshynrut Block on Saturday organised a programme to felicitate meritorious students of Mawshynrut Constituency who fared well in the recent SSLC Examinations conducted by MBoSE.
The programme was held at Lyngngam Presbyterian Higher Secondary School auditorium wherein MLA and MDC Gigur Myrthong was the chief guest along with Gardinal Sohshang, working president of the party.
Altogether 14 students of Mawshynrut Constituency secured above 70 per cent in the exam. The students were awarded with certificate and Rs.10, 000 each.
Speaking on the occasion, Gigur Myrthong said that the programme served as an inspirational platform for those who aspire to achieve success in future.
Myrthong said after becoming a legislator from a backward constituency, his aim was to focus on education which, according to him, is the only weapon to eradicate poverty and improve the economic condition in the constituency.
Myrthong also said that he wanted to organise such felicitation programme in order to help encourage students to work harder.
Encouraging the students in working hard in studies he said, “I dream that one day there will be several IAS and MCS officers from Mawshynrut who could serve better to the service of the people.
Further, he congratulated students for bringing laurels to the region, especially teachers and parents for contributing much towards the success of the children.
He also urged the students of the area to have a social responsibility a responsible citizen. Later, he felicitated students who secured top positions with mementos and cash award. Others who were present included Ex-MLA HL Nongsiang, parents and students from Mawshynrut.
