Demand for salary release

SHILLONG: Office bearers of both Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) and Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employees Association (GHDSTEA) met the Additional Chief Secretary in- charge of Finance, R V Suchiang on Tuesday to apprise her on the non-release of payment by the treasury and the banks in some districts.
There is delay in clearing payment of salaries to several deficit school teachers in the state. Suchiang assured the delegation that she will look into the matter within a few days.
On the request of both the associations to release the second installment of pending arrears of the revised pay before Christmas, Suchiang told the delegation to request the education department to do the needful.The delegation said in spite of financial constraints faced by the state government, the dues should be cleared by the finance department in the coming days.
