MP inaugurates 2 roads at Umden

NONGPOH: Vincent H Pala, Member of Parliament from Shillong Parliamentary constituency unveiled two foundation stones for the up-gradation of two roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Scheme Phase-I and II of 2018-19 at Umden Playground, Umden village in Ri Bhoi on Tuesday.
The Umden to Mawlong road (9.4KM) was sanctioned for Rs 350.982 lakh (construction) and 95.81 lakh (maintenance) and Umden to Umrang road (8KM) for Rs 3.26 crore (construction) and Rs 32 lakh (maintenance).
The programme was organised by the Nongpoh Constituency Development Committee (NCDC) in collaboration with the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Raid Nongtluh and PWD Roads, Nongpoh Division.
Pala was the chief guest on the occasion along with guest of honour MB Syiem, local MLA besides Balajied Ranee, local MDC, F Lakiang, EAC, W Pakyntein, District Agriculture Officer, TJ Nengnong, Chief Engineer, PWD Roads and Tirot Laloo, Executive Engineer, PWD Roads.
Speaking on the occasion, Pala urged the people to well utilise the assets granted to them by the government for their betterment.
He congratulated the recipients of the scheme and appealed to all the local residents residing on the roadside to turn off their ditches from the road as part of maintenance of the road and cleanliness in future.
Earlier, a memorandum for other needs of the area was submitted to the MP, who assured to look upon the requests at the earliest. He advised the residentsto be aware of misuse of the schemes granted to them.
