Rymbui apprised of delay in issuing marksheets by NIOS

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Association (MSSAA), Central Body, has threatened to agitate if the state government fails to release their three months’ pending salary on or before November 18.
In a letter to Principal Secretary Education department, MSSAA President Aristotle Rymbai said 5814 lower primary teachers and 6727 upper primary teachers working under ‘Samagra Shiksha’ are facing hardship due to non release of their salary which has remained pending for three months – August, September and October of the current academic year.
Rymbai said the teachers are being pressurised to manage their families’ daily requirements. Some teachers have been compelled to borrow money from other sources for hospital bills, medical bills, etc., he added
Moreover, he said the non-clearance of the salaries has put many of the teachers into depression.
“If the government fails to release the salary on or before November 18 we have no other option but to come out to the street,” the letter said.
NIOS marksheets
In a separate letter to Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, the association stated that the first batch of the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) programme comprising of 4385 teachers, whose course have been completed on October-November 2015, have still not received the original marksheet and certificate from NIOS. There were also some errors in the results of the second batch of students, it added.
During the general executive meeting of the association on November 8, the MSSAA had decided to urge the state government to look into the matter and take a final decision through the education minister.
