Photo exhibition on Constitution Day

SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) organised a photo exhibition on the High Court premises on Tuesday to commemorate the 70th Constitution Day.
The photo exhibition was inaugurated by Justice Mohammad Rafiq, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron-in-Chief, MSLSA. The programme was also attended by Justice HS Thangkhiew, Judge, Meghalaya High Court and Executive Chairman, MSLSA, Justice W Diengdoh, Judge, Meghalaya High Court, B Mawrie, Registrar General, Meghalaya High Court, Noor Ain Khan, Member Secretary, MSLSA, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Mohammad Rafiq informed that in order to mark the 70th year of the adoption of the Constitution, a year-long campaign focusing on creating awareness on fundamental duties will be conducted by the MSLSA. On the occasion, Justice Mohammad Rafiq and HS Thangkhiew, led the reading out of the Preamble and fundamental duties of the Constitution.
In the exhibition, a copy of the replica of the original Constitution, both in English and Hindi, depicting that the Indian Constitution was handwritten with signatures of all 284 members of the constituent assembly was displayed.
Altogether 40 paintings which are seen in the original Constitution were also displayed in the exhibition.
NEHU celebrates
Constitution Day
The faculty, staff and students led by the Vice Chancellor (VC) of NEHU, Shillong celebrated the 70th Constitution Day on the institute premises on Tuedsay. On the occasion, a reading of the Preamble was conducted followed by the live stream of the programme in New Delhi at the VC Conference Room, Administrative Building, NEHU.
Further, a lecture on ‘the continuity and change in the Indian Constitution’ was given by HS Thangkhiew, Judge, Meghalaya High Court.
Club observes occasion
Metallica-Sargam Sports & Cultural Club in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, East Khasi Hills, Shillong observed the Constitution Day at Gandhi Buniyadi Hindi Sec. School on Tuesday.
The event will be carried forward till April 14, 2020, to mark the birth celebration of Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
A seminar was also organised on the occasion. As many as 42 individuals participated on the occasion.
