Discover North East cultural extravaganza concludes

TURA: The people of Garo Hills witnessed a grand cultural extravaganza during the three-day ‘Discover North East’ event, organised by North East Zone Cultural Centre’s (NEZCC) in collaboration with the Arts & Culture department and West Garo Hills District Administration, which concluded on Thursday.
The three-day cultural bonanza was held at Dadengre, Babadam and Rombagre on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
The objective of the event was to preserve and promote the arts and culture of the Northeastern region while at the same time enriching the consciousness of the people with the uniqueness of their cultural heritage.
In the programme, artistes from Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttarkhand besides local dance troupes enthralled the people with their exquisite traditional dances and acrobatic skills.
The highlights of the three-day event were the Dangi Kahalya Nriti dance from Gujarat, Ghasiyari and Chapelli dance from Uttarkhand, Sam Zabro dance from Arunachal Pradesh and Maruni dance from Sikkim.
On Thursday, at Rombagre, local cultural troupes from Rombagre, Chokagre and neighbouring Rongsak village in East Garo Hills showcased their dancing skills.
