HYC demands repair of Nongstoin-Maweit road

NONGSTOIN: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Maweit Circle led by its president Jeremaia Dkhar and general secretary Shembor Langrin on Tuesday met the executive engineer of PWD, Nongstoin Division with the demand to repair the road and all bridges along Nongstoin-Maweit road.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Jeremaia Dkhar said the condition of all the bridges and road along the Nongstoin-Maweit road has affected the normal life of people. He also said that there are two major bridges located in Risiang and Nongpathar which is in worst condition and may collapse at any time.
Dkhar also informed that the council has urged the executive engineer of PWD to speed up the funding for the repair of both bridges and the road in Maweit till Wahblei.
Jeremaia also told that the council has been informed that the PMGSY scheme funded by PWD for the construction and blacktopping of road from Maweit to Mawrynniaw. The council has urged the contractor to speed up the work.
The HYC Maweit circle also urged PWD minister, Prestone Tynsong for speeding up the proposed two-laning of the National Highway from Nongstoin-Kulang to Nongjri via Maweit.
It also requested the MLA/MDC of Mawshynrut to follow up the matter for improvement so that it will benefit the people of Maweit and Mawshynrut.
