NONGSTOIN: A day after KSU and some villagers demolished the toll gate at Nongmynsaw Syiemship, the office of Nongmynsaw Syiemship has said that it will reinstall the toll gate and termed the allegations of illegal collection as false and an attempt to tarnish the image of the Dorbar.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Syiem Khynnah, (Deputy Syiem) of Hima Nongmynsaw, Auxilius Syiem said that on November 22, a group of people, who claimed to be KSU, Rimuliang circle, led by the union president, Jylliewsing Marwein, forcefully entered the toll gate in Mawlan B and took one of the receipts in which he wrote the rate as Rs 1000 himself.
“Jylliew brainwashed some youths for his personal benefits,” he said.
While narrating the incident, Banrilang Syiem, a toll gate worker, said that the office of Hima Nongmynsaw had already prescribed the rates to be charged from all vehicles.
The pickup trucks are charged Rs 50 each and heavy vehicles at Rs 200. “We are not allowed to increase the rates without the knowledge of the Hima,” the worker said. Phlowing Syiem, acting Syiem of Nongmynsaw, said that the Hima will reinstall the toll gate despite the warning issued by the KSU leader.
“The toll gate will be reinstalled as the Hima has the right to install any toll gate within its jurisdiction as per the permission from the District Council court,” the acting Syiem said. He also welcomed the challenge of the KSU president to move the High Court as he was threatened earlier.
