Workshop on human trafficking

SHILLONG: The women’s cell of Shillong Commerce College in collaboration with IQAC organised a one-day workshop on ‘Sex/Human Trafficking in Meghalaya’.
Experts, who took part in the workshop, said the education and knowledge of persons who resort to trafficking among all members of society is the key to beating human traffickers. One has to use all means at disposal to raise awareness about the crime, its nature, causes and damage.
The resource persons for the programme were retired police official M. Kharkrang, Meghalaya High Court advocate Nakilin Giri, and Project Manager, Manbha Foundation, Lumjingshai, Samanda Phanwar.
