SHILLONG: Former Home Minister RG Lyngdoh has lamented that few miscreants are hijacking the anti Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitations in the state by attacking soft targets while calling upon the genuine agitators to identify those few miscreants and hand them over to the authorities.
Lyngdoh said that there is a lot of resentment against the CAA and the growing demand of ILP has to be properly looked by the authorities. “My concern at this point of time is attack over innocent people. The agitation is being hijacked by miscreants who are hell bent on attacking soft targets and people are genuinely agitating for the good of the community and should not allow these miscreants to hijack the agitation or else its credibility would go down,” Lyngdoh said. Pointing out that the agitation is not against any community, but a genuine concern for the future of the indigenous people, Lyngdoh said that let it remain a peaceful agitation and let’s be determined to work for the good of the society by not allowing any anti social elements to do anything that would be detrimental, he said.
