Shillong YMCA celebrates advent Christmas

SHILLONG: The Shillong YMCA organised advent Christmas celebration for its members and students of the YMCA Vocational Programmes at the KJP Conference Hall.
Most Revd Dr Purely Lyngdoh, president of Shillong YMCA, chaired the programme by invoking the presence and guidance of God. He welcomed the gathering and lauded the staff and students of the computer section who have excelled in various spheres of lives through the various courses.
CD Kynjing, Board Member of the YMCA, led the programme in prayer and dedication.
Rev Iashan Ryntathiang of COJC, gave a sermon on the occasion. He drew parallel of the present political, economic and social unrest with the time of Christ’s birth two thousand odd years ago. He reminded everyone that during the time of Jesus’ birth there was fear but the angels ascended and said, “Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy …”
He also said that at present the youth are filled with fear of their studies, their career, their employment and people in general fear the uncertainty of life itself. The programme was enthralled by the melodious tunes from the different batches of students rendering Christmas songs. Shamir Thabah, Assistant Secretary of the organisation led the congregation with popular carols.
Others who spoke were DLWarjri, and Lamonte Pariat. Dignitaries and members present were FR Kharkongor, CO Ryngad, JR Myrboh among others.
