DC says stock maintained for emergency

SHILLONG: The city has been witnessing long queues at petrol pumps for the past two days as people are rushing to refill their tanks amid rumours of shortage of fuel.
On Saturday, many petrol pumps resorted to fuel rationing. Four-wheelers were not allowed to refill more than Rs 500 and two-wheelers had a limit of Rs 100-200.
When asked, attendants said that most of the petrol pumps in the city are running low on fuel so they have to resort to rationing.
When contacted, DC (Supply) Matsiewdor War Nongbri denied that the petrol pumps are running out of fuels. She, however, stated that petrol pumps have been asked to maintain their stocks as very few tankers were able to reach Shillong due to the law and order disturbance in Assam.“We normally do this to ensure that stock is maintained for emergency services,” she said.
However, the good news is tankers from Guwahati have started reaching Shillong from Saturday.
