SHILLONG: Suspension of internet services has been extended for another 48 hours after the previous blockade ended on Saturday, informed Additional Secretary, Home (Police), CVD Diengdoh.
The decision to suspend mobile internet, data and SMS of all service providers in the state has been taken in view of the law and order disturbances, he said.
Earlier, the government in a notification said that systems like SMS, WhatsApp and other social networking services like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are likely to be used for the transmission of information through pictures, videos and texts that have the potential to cause civil unrest and exacerbate the situation.
