SHILLONG: The Legal Rights Observatory (LRO) has appealed to the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) to raise voice against the violence perpetrated upon the traders by the NGOs in the city recently.
In a letter to NESO on Monday, the LRO, expressing concern, said, “The violence would lead to exodus of non-tribal Hindus from Meghalaya and vacuum would be effectively filled by Bangladeshi Muslims in days to come”.
Highlighting that the same issue has been raised with the Meghalaya Police and civil officers, the LRO has asked for a ‘strong-worded’ letter from NESO with regard to the violence.
