SHILLONG: Capturing the Christmas mood, a large section of residents of Laban joined the on-going Operation Clean-Up on Wednesday to give this cosmopolitan hub a spruced-up look.
Organised by Laban Dorbar and complemented by The Shillong Times Platinum Jubilee Organising Committee, nearly a thousand people of various descriptions responded enthusiastically.
Among others, volunteers from Make Someone Smile and Jiva Group lent a hand.
Local Headman Edward Kharwanlang, president, Seng Kynthei Kong Khonglam, advocate Anuradha Paul and Manas Chaudhuri addressed the gathering.
On the occasion, cloth bags meant to replace single-use plastic bags, specially sponsored by The Shillong Times, were distributed to all participants.
